I am a Bunny Girl

rabbitsm.jpgAnd no, it’s not the name of my new ‘adult’ website. Bunny shooting has been stepped up a gear. Generally I get Ian out of bed at 6 am to go and get rabbits while I get the kids ready for school. And in the evening I take my turn for the 9 – 10 pm shift.

Once I’ve shot one, I’ve found that if I stay put for 15 minutes or so, the others will come back out again, giving me a chance to get another. So far the toll is at 18. That’s 18 fewer bunnies to munch on our veg; eating up to 30% (yes, 30%!) of their own body weight a day. That’s even more than our 8 year old son puts away at dinner time!

I take one look at bunnies and I think, “Awwwwww..” But having a garden myself, I share your woes! I haven’t any bunnies come by, but I do battle with moles and deer.
Are you eating all the bunnies or just a select few??

By the way, I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and have added you to my links. Please take that as a compliment and I hope you dont mind.

    Thanks.
Well, sadly, only one bunny so far has been large enough to merit the time spent preparing it for the pot. All the others have been too small, or borderline. It’s very sad to see them dead, but I steel myself and remember what they do when they’re alive.
Animals are lovely, but they should learn to stay clear of my garden. They seem to believe that I toil all day in the hot sun for their benefit, not for my own!
