Does anyone know why I can no longer see Stonehead’s blog? Every day when I try to look at it I get a screen saying “this blog is protected” and asking me to log on.
Is it just me? Have I lost the plot or the ability to use a computer?
he is taking a ” grumpy” break, according to Howling Duck Ranch, I suspect because of some of the carp comments he is getting…but thats just my opinion, not based on any fact….(!)
Compostwoman got there before me :-d – since the storms my Internet has been useless.
Stonehead’s had some pretty nasty comments over the last year from a few people so I guess he’s just had enough which is really sad as I enjoy his blog.
Thanks for the answer, I knew he’d had some vicious bullshit thrown at him and was honestly fearing it might be worse than just having had enough. I can’t blame him but will miss him.
Wish I could send a thankyou for all the entertainment.
That’s terrible news! He’s either being beaten over the head by petrol-heads or by extreme-greenies… I just don’t know what their problem is, or why they feel that venting their anger on his blog is going to help anyone.
They’re like blog-masochists, sitting there reading things they disagree with until their heads blow off and all their pent-up bile comes gushing out in a torrent of abuse; when what they should have done is have a cup of tea and read something more conducive to their way of thinking. If people don’t like a blog, they don’t have to read it – no one’s forcing them for God’s sake!
Come back soon, Stoney!
Thanks for clearing this up, I had just started reading Stonehead’s blog and couldn’t understand why it had disappeared. It’s a real shame he’s had such a lot of crappy comments – why do folk feel the need to waste their time spreading negativity? As Scarlet said, if you don’t like it, don’t read it!
It really is such a shame that someone feels forced to give up something they clearly enjoy doing (& which so many others enjoy as both informative & entertaining) owing vitriolic comments. I gather from one statement he made on the ‘Rabbit’ post that he may have even received death threats (& this from supposed vegan pacifists) – it is completely unacceptable, & disgusting.
To my great disappointment & surprise I have occasionally received unpleasant comments on my own Blog; & therefore know how extremely hurtful it can be, especially when you are donig your level best to manage a smallholding in as much of an organic, environmentally-friendly & ethically-responsible manner as possible. But people still feel the need to snipe….I really feel sad that they evidently gain such twisted pleasure from trying to pour scorn & poison on others’ hard-grafted efforts.
But alas, there will always be such nasty people in the world – look at Australia; there are those who deliberately started some of the wildfires, with all the loss of life & devastation they’ve caused. It’s a strange old world…
Hope you’ll be back again soon, Stoney – we miss you. Give ‘em Hell – the pen (or the keyboard in modern parlance) is mightier than the sword, after all.
I took a break as I was feeling tired and rundown, which meant I was being less than tactful with people who sent me stupid emails, or ones that moaned about how I was so much luckier than them.
Normally, I’m reasonably polite to the people that send this sort of thing and am only rude to the genuinely obnoxious prats. But I was getting grumpy and mean with just about anyone who irritated me so I decided to take break until I was feeling more diplomatic and less irascible.
Unfortunately, WordPress doesn’t have the option of putting up a holding page that reads something like “Sod off, I’m grump today” so I had to go to password protection.
Blog by me, Scarlet Merrill, and an entourage of mad husband, wild children, dog, cats, evil rabbits and constantly escaping chickens. Featuring Vegetables, DIY, Wine, Food, France and other stuff... welcome!

Anyway, thanks for the interest and concern.
